The casing, which seems to be anise/licorice and honey, isn't overpowering, and the natural tobacco flavors are allowed to come through. The pouch aroma reflects the honey-licorice flavoring. Not overly moist or "goopy" like some cased aromatics; its moisture level is usually close to ideal. It packs easily, and there are no problems firing it up or keeping it lit. The basic flavor is that of a nice mild Virginia, slightly sweet and very smooth. The Orientals add a subdued spicy flavor which stays well in the background. The Latakia plays hide and seek with your tastebuds and is barely noticeable. About mid-bowl, the anise flavoring becomes more noticeable, and it seems to linger in the pipe for a while after a smoke.

Sail Green is one of the finest pouch tobacco imports available. When you smoke it, you will taste mostly Virginia Tobacco with some Orientals. Although it is said to contain Latakia or Burley, their presence is either very small or masked by the casing which smells of anise, but does not impart more than a mild flavor on the tobacco. Since Sail Green is a ribbon-cut typical Dutch Cavendish, it stays lit, does not burn hot, and does not bite. A slight dark hint of peppery undertones all the way through comes from the Oriental tobaccos. Nutty, velvety, burns cool and dry! I highly recommend it!
